Scientific name : Volvariella volvacea
Straw mushroom is a delicious mushroom naturally grown on decomposing straw in the paddy fields after paddy harvesting. Traditionally Sri Lankan people have used it as a edible mushroom for a long time. Cultivation methods have been develped to grow this mushroom artificially.Straw mushrooms are grown on rice straw beds and picked immature, during the button or egg phase and before the veil ruptures.
